THE U.S. BUREAU OF RECLAMATION

The Bureau of Reclamation administers the work of the Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Work Group. This Work Group is a federal advisory committee charged with advising the Secretary of the Interior how to protect and improve the ecosystem of the Grand Canyon, through the operation of Glen Canyon Dam.

The Work Group consists of 26 stakeholders with widely divergent interests and views, including representatives from each of the seven Colorado River basin states, six Indian tribes, two purchasers of hydropower generated at the dam, six federal agencies, one state agency, two representatives of environmental interests, and two representatives of recreational interests. These stakeholders are appointed to serve on the Work Group by the Secretary of the Interior.

The Mary Orton Company was contracted to provide facilitation services with a strong mediation component for the Work Group and its subcommittees, including the Technical Work Group. Recent efforts have focused on the development of the program's Strategic Plan, as well as enhancing group effectiveness and productivity.
