PHILOSOPHY AND ETHICS
Mary Orton believes:
Conflict is a normal part of life that can release our creativity and deepen our relationships.
The constructive engagement of conflict helps to build strong communities and institutions, strengthen democracy, and prevent future conflict.
Helping people to address conflict constructively in one arena can help them improve their approaches to conflicts in other parts of their lives.
Mediators must adhere to a strict set of ethical standards in order to serve the parties and sustain trust in the process. These standards apply to issues such as impartiality, informed consent, confidentiality, and conflicts of interest, among others.
